11.35am; sunday
the week break has ended far too soon and i'm left pining for weekdays spent languishing in bed, staying in my pyjamas the whole day and catching jeopardy every weeknight at 6.30. i catch re-runs of satc when i'm studying late into the night and drown myself with countless cups of tea in an often futile effort to keep myself alert at 3 in the morning.
*sigh* i was supposed to start reading and breaking down the points for my contract assignment but i still haven't because i've been clearing all the readings *beams* save for crim. and so, the thought of having to try and make sense of a hundred and ten page case over the next week is excruciating. but i must, i can and i will. i had a hit of tennis during the week with tania. we flopped about miserably for the first 10 mins then finally got the groove thing. hah. oh well.. reckon i can rally somewhere halfway decent at least. mom has posted over my winter clothes *yay* because she decided she's not flying down in may :(since i'm flying back *double yay* in june anyway. but the first parcel with my tennis racket and all my scarves/ shirts still have not arrived :( it's been 3 weeks and i have this ominous, foreboding feeling that it got lost in the depths of the postal universe. well, at least she didn't post any of my shoes over.
channel v had an 8 hour(!) special on the beatles yesterday from 9-5 and i only realised it at 11 *bugger*. so i spent a good 3 hours watching their music videos and biography and decided to tape the rest of it. 8 hours! i started thinking about each beatle and how on some level i could relate to each of them. if you ask me now who my favourtie beatle is, i don't think i'd still say paul. it's just that there's something about everyone else.. george, the way he was always underrated as a beatle and ultimately it is his songs (and lennon's) are the ones that really strike me the most. just think of here comes the sun, something, while my guitar gently weeps. and with lennon- all you need is love, imagine, across the universe... of course paul had hey jude, i will, all my loving :) and yesterday. thing about the beatles is, 40 years on (and for another 40 to come), there are still many singers today doing their songs (tell me of one singer/ group today capable of having their songs sung 40 years on.. ) their material is just sooo good.
i could really go on and on but i have this sense that half the people reading this entry stopped 30 seconds ago. hah. one reason why i picked up the drums (i tried to at least) was because i wanted to play to a beatle song ( i did hey jude! minus the fills lah). i know i could never give the snare and toms toms a hit like ringo can but it felt sooo good. everyone has a favourite beatle song, at least one that you're fond of. and if you don't, well you're a git :). and the way they broke up.. each time i re-watch anthology i never watch the last dvd... the way everything fell apart, i just couldn't take it (drama mama you say). i grew up to the beatles, i tried in vain to sing to the french words in 'michelle', screamed heartily to 'twist and shout' in the shower and moped about the house to 'yesterday'. i've always wished i could have watched the beatles live. i'll definitely make my kids grow up to the beatles, sinatra, ella fitzgerald, billie holday. there's nothing like the good old days.
"and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" -the end: abbey road, the beatles
