6.10pm; friday

alright, let's not rant about work shall we? today's weather was simply brilliant, nice sunny weather with cool winds that toussled your hair listlessly. i went down to melb uni today to get the application forms to do a transfer to the law faculty there. someone told me that only 3 people manage to transfer in, in the whole of victoria every year. hmm, lets keep our fingers crossed then. i was kicking myself so hard quite a bit earlier this year for not applying to melb uni last july because the whole furore of nus law and getting visa applications was consuming me. i remember telling my friends that i'd re-apply to nus law this year and if i got accepted i'd refuse the application just to shove it up their arses. i started to realise the only reason i wanted to do that was because i was bitter and sorely disappointed (understatement). i didn't apply this year.

okay so saying 'everything happens for a reason' is cliched well.. sod it. i'm not sure but i have this inkling that nus law would just kill me. i'm starting to see that i can get a better education here, in all sense of the word. don't get me wrong, i'd have gone to nus law if i could but i'm glad i didn't. i think law here does away with the trimmings of peer pressure, insane dress-ups, and rah-rah social groupings. i quite like going about my day when i like it, doing what i want, without any need to conform to any expectation or norm. maybe i'm opting for the easy route but easier does not necessarily mean any less better.

when i finally start working i know it's not about where your degree is from, what you know.. but who you know- networking. i always wondered what it'd be like if i took up ucl or lse's offer to do geography. i know i'd love it like hell and you'll always think about those things that could've, should've, would've but i can't do anything to change the past but i can do everything to change what is to come. i know i don't have to justify my choices or prove anything to anyone, but myself, but i just needed to get all this whirrings out of my head.

and so i get the worst pangs of missing everyone back home from time to time but i also know what it feels like to watch the orange leaves of autumn fall and swirl in the spiralling winds. i may not get my fix of kick ass hawker food, simpang or genki but i know i'll get to walk through a good exhibition like warhol's at the gallery. even the bittersweet moments of having learnt how to fish and those weekend getaways at sorrento seem worth it. so for now, i'll only be the best that i am.

That's who you are, that's what you could
Come on, come on
no one can see you cry"
