2.57am; thursday

have you seen that photo of james dean hunched in the rain walking down times square? i can't remember who took that photo but there's something about that photo that's incredibly striking and i'm always enthralled by it. i love that photo and the 'torn sweater series' roy schatt photographed as well. when i get tired from staring too hard at the screen i find myself gazing at the tacked photos i have on my board. my eyes dart around the board randomly, moving from warhol's prints of jackie kennedy to starry night by the rhone. at each instance i always find that i can relate to the picture on some level or another. and i start to realise that a common thread runs through my favourite prints and pictures- they're terribly poignant and somehow.. lost. i'm not saying i have an affinity for all things glum and bleak but with aesthetics you have a way of picking the things that appeal to you instinctively and almost instataneously.

it just dawned on me that my letter of advice is worth 30% of my final crim grade and concurrently goes to 20% of SER A. that's a whole lot of percentages for one assignment. i probably shouldn't have whiled the evening away to jeopardy and 2 hours of jamie oliver. but i'm too tired and numb to be worried. i know i couldn't sleep even if i tried because there's too much to do. and of course i'm here blogging instead of doing whatever law students are supposed to do with their assignments. but the little things make my week, hitting a perfect backhand at tennis, friends telling you you're sorely missed and ebay telling me i won that pair of marc jacob shoes :)
