my dearest nicole anne, congrats on your new found love! it's really really pretty, timeless and understated :) nothing beats the saddle (save the birkin/ kelly no?) along with great company walking the afternoon around *smiles*
went to the sg arts museum with sooch some time last week and for the larger part the exhibits weren't especially impressive. there were however some activities that was great fun- building our own city, paper cut outs, message boards. i liked that it was interactive and evoked the child like side in me without being contrived. i suppose it's not fair to always compare to what i've seen in melb but i was thoroughly impressed with the 'gao xingjian' exhibit. the ink paintings were really, really good. i like spending my afternoons like that- walking around with especially great and familiar company then satiating our appetites much later.
finally met up with venetia and derek to watch joel's perform at a concert. it was a small and intimate performance/ recital that certainly ushered the xmas spirit. joel ditched us (heh, no lah) so ven, derek and me made our way to 'my secret garden' which i enjoyed. appreciated that they had mosquito coils for those dining al fresco and along with xmas lights, mistletoes and desert it was great catching up. we went to father flannigans for drinks later and damn do they have good strawberry milkshakes. we sat there talking, sharing our thoughts and rightly came to the conclusion that sometimes they're not just that into you.
and last night, over dinner and desert with jh, i had a great and insightful time. hanging out with jh is always enlightening and makes me wonder whether i can be any better- kinder and more compassionate. genki never fails us and chocolates at max brenners was a sweet (heh) way to talk into the night. i suppose there's always a tension and conflict of some sort within all of us that manifests in a number of ways. whether it is our insecurities that we often try to rationalise but ultimately end up feeling just as despondent; or wanting something we are not really sure we need but merely want. growing is hard and there are always going to be insurmountable obstacles and even worse, fears. but i guess, when you have good and true friends, it isn't so bad is it? i'll get by with a little help from my friends.
