the aussie delegation world mun 06 by the lake at peking university on a campus tour, freezing and in considerable pain after walking around the HUGE campus in heels.

comittee session- the european council at an unmoderated caucus. funny thing is because we associated each person to the country on their placards, for the larger part of the week, we were calling out to each other by our countries- "hey malta, do you want to go for lunch?"
one half of the ec comittee (l-r)- italy, uk, czech republic, germany, spain and sweden at lunch
guido (sweden), david (malta) and yoram (greece)! the funny guys on the comittee.
sophie and me with the mexican delegation!
harvard takes to the stage on cabaret night with a dance. the aussie delegation performed too but photos are far too embarassing and funny to put up, trust me. heh. matt dressed as kylie and the parody that ensued was hilarious.
at the forbidden city :)
luke, lacount (us delegate) and me at the forbidden city. lacount, sohpie and me would have the most hilarious times with our very own personal jokes that no one else would get.

sophie at tiananmen sq. we flew kites along the square, until we got told off (although the locals weren't) by the police. and we didn't get to see chairman mao in the mausoleum because he is only open to visitors in the mornings. apparently he's busy settling state affairs in the afternoons. disappointment aside, we had hung around long enough and saw the sun set with red streaks across the sky, bathing the square in a majestic glow of red that seemed far too poignant.
lunch with the greeks on at a restaurant on campus at peking uni :)
as we were walking down the street, i said i felt like it was the mafia (albeit greek) with so many guys in shades and suits. and so andreas got the other guys to flank me and with hands in their breast pockets (guns he says) and a stern look. heh. i thought it was very cool.

the boys of westpoint military uni in the bus on our way to the farewell party. the US and aussie delegation broke out in song (pissing the germans off in the front of the bus) and i had prodded chris on to get the guys to sing 'you've lost that loving feeling' (topgun!) and when they broke into song, everyone howled along all the way to the club.
the blast of a farewell party with antonia, allison, sophie, me and luke.
dearest sophie, running on 3 hours of sleep (due to the farewell party) at the summer palace. it was a beautiful spring day and with flowers in bloom and with warm sunny weather, we later decided on paddling out onto the lakes to witness the splendour and decadence the royalty lived in.

great wall of china with dani (spanish), borta (argentine), sophie and me. we went to the original and unreconstructed section of the wall, untouched for 2500 years and found ourselves scaling walls, climbing over boulders and slipping on loose gravel. but the tunnels we discovered and sights that engulfed us made every bruise and each torturous step up the steep slopes worth it!

sophie and me spent the nest few days, post conference, going to the silk market to shop till we were unable to fit anything into our luggage. all in all, it was an incredible experience meeting so many different people, sharing laughs and getting to know them. the buzz from learning and thriving on each other's ideas at comittee sessions, to the merriest of moments, and especially the tender ones has simply been nothing short of amazing :)
