we were off to the ice-skating rink last night for retro/ disco night for vanessa's 21st and it was so much fun! but ven, yolanda and me pretty much realised we were quite the old foggies because we found ourselves resting our aching feet from the skates (that pinched into our ankles and toes) for far longer than we had anticipated. well it was much warmer to be sitting at a booth with a bag of chips...
we had all dressed up, channeling the disco-diva and retro chicks in all of us but as soon as we stepped onto the rink and realised how cold it was, the coats, scarves and gloves stayed on the whole night. there were many videos and shots to laugh over taken on the ice while i (precariously) maintained my balance. we all clung to the edges at first but once we got used to it, round and round we went.
we even played "police and thief" haha. and when you're panicked and skating away from the "police" you tend to find yourself flustered and well.. squealing. fellow thief shuwen saved me many many times and i'm still embarassed that the only reason andrea "caught" me was because i practically skated towards her. i didn't see her standing by the sides and all she did was stick her hand out and there, i was caught, again.
then we went to glen waverly for tapas and it must have been the cold but i was quite hungry and me and vanessa shared a char-grilled seafood pizza and it was delish. we did various renditions of abba's 'knowing me, knowing you', complete with the oh-so-80s-head-turns and found ourselves laughing heartily.
reached home and opened my bday present (of music and memories) from ven and it was one of those things that just topped the day off. i sank into my warm bed, pulled the covers over my head and went to bed extremely contented. (more pics here)
