sunday; 9.32pm
it was a splendid sunday today. went over to mez's for a lunch party (for her mom's birthday) and the bunch of us hung around well into the night. i popped by the bakery for some tarts for dessert before coming and when i came and saw the spread for lunch i almost squealed with delight. even better, it tasted absolutely amazing.. it was heaven on a plate. contentment and satiation was found in one lovely sunday. the passion fruit pavlova, briyani, grilled chicken with gravy and cakes, tarts and pastries made for a very happy and appreciative lot of us.
we ate our fill, took an afternoon walk to pick brandon up at the station and hit for another round of deserts. then gn asked me if i wanted to go fruit picking and so we trotted off into the backyard, and saw every sign of spring despite the slightly chilly weather. there were oranges, grapefruits and lime to pick from and it was really nice to be sourcing for ripe fruits along the carpet of petals that laid beneath the trees.
taking our pick
we had a gas mucking about in the front yard, jumping around and, later, a game of soccer and the kids beat us 20++ year olds (!). it was quite embarassing but hey, heaps of fun. scrambling hurriedly for the ball, trying to catch my breath and hell bent on putting the 6-12 year olds to shame, we scuttled our way through, albeit rather unsuccessfully.
we headed back in as the sun begin to set and started off with a round of 'pyramid game' with the pictionary cards and it was hilarious. ja was on my team and when i was guessing she said "it has 8 testicles". like a knee-jerk reaction, i quickly blurted out "octopus" but as soon as everyone realised she said "testicles" instead of "tentacles" we broke out into fits of laughter, writhing on the floor. the visual image was too much to bear. we went on with pictionary proper after, and the frustration and hilarious antics that came with the game was priceless. hoho..

many videos, engaging conversations and laughs later, we found ourselves reminded that tomorrow was monday and made our way back to the city a stomach full of the best food that one could have in a day. it was a splendid sunday today.
