monday; 12.45pm

I was ready to run out of the house this morning so i'd be early for my session at the gym with the trainer when the buzzer rang. There was a package waiting downstairs and when I came down it was a dhl dude. I signed for it and knifed the hell out of the box as soon as I was back in the apartment. To Jolene and Andy, mucho mucho gracias for the lovely mini-biography of The Beatles. I'd always seen it around at Borders and had been wanting to get it :) And to dearest jh, i love love the ralph lauren polo t-shirt and it's a great summer colour! i have never seen the one embroided in gold before but i like it, a lot. You guys are great because i love the sentiment behind it the most.

On another note, it struck me last night as i was watching the men's finals, that at 2 set points down in the first set but fighting back and 4 deuces later, winning the game and eventually the set, federer is the epitome of resilience and calm. He never ceases to amaze me with his sublime play and attitude on the court and the way he conducts himself off it. I have a knack of panicking, worrying and even choking when it comes to a crucial moment and the pressure falls squarely on me, all 34, 569 tonnes of it. How does it not become overwhelming? How do you attain such self-assurance and confidence, have no apologies for it, and execute to the best of your abilities each time, and especially more so when it counts. That absolute faith in yourself no matter how hopeless a situation might be. How does one emerge triumphant, in all the areas you aspire to be?
