Have you had something you could absolutely rely on with complete certainty for security and comfort? Something that just calms and reassures you.. something or someone that you know that will absolutely not fail you, under any circumstance. I dare not depend and rely on friends (for instance) for that comfort not because I know they will fail to meet me at haagen dazs with tissues during a break up or be ready to listen each and every time but because I know just as much that things, always, always change. And in the off chance that things change for the worse, I wouldn't want to feel absolutely helpless and hopeless all at the same time.

But it's surprising how as much as I am overcome by lethargy and insecurities, things get better in spite of it all. "A day in the Life" randomly played earlier and it was incredible how with each bar played, that sense of burden weighing me down seem to dissipate. I love lennon's lilting voice juxtaposed against mcCartney's chirpy singing. It climaxes in a crescendo but winds down with the same haunting and thoughtful tune and words that the song began with. The lyrics sung appear random but yet speak volumes (to me).

So you see, for me, john, paul, george and ringo are the ones I can unfailingly rely upon to pick me up (however temporary) with the most unsuspecting songs. That never will and simply cannot change because their story has ended.. their music, frozen in time. Nothing changes their legacy and I find comfort in that- in knowing it will always, always be there.

They're there.. eight days a week, through the long and winding road and come together to help me through a hard day's night when i'm down. and that means a lot.
