I have the next 10 months planned out down to the tiniest detail-- from co-ordinating internships and travel to finishing the last sem in uni. And for the most part, I've more or less known what i wanted but at the same time I've always been at odds between picking private or public international law (IL) to explore and delve into more deeply.

I was working on my research paper on Thurs and I was reading journal article after journal article on jurisdiction clauses. Basically I was really into it and hours would pass by and only a sore neck and tired eyes would remind me of the time. But then on Friday I went to a talk by ICC chief prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo (!!) and knew that public IL was something I had to go into because it struck such a chord with me. And at work yesterday, Yvette (supervisor) offered me a stint to work on indigenous rights (i.e. public IL) for 3 weeks. At the same time, I'm doing all i can to get vis moot (private IL).

Everything seems to be going into disparate directions... surely they are not mutually exclusive. But the more I think about what I have to do and the choices I have to make, a fuse seems to have just blown. I have lost all interest in my research paper- i don't think i care anymore how jurisdiction clauses are applied differently in Australia and the EU or how great an internship at the Hague would be. I'm just exhausted. I can't wait to finish law school but what awaits after is no better I'm sure. I just need to know what i need to do.

"i searched for joy, but i bought it all
it doesn't help the hunger pangs and a thirst
i'd have to drown first to ever satiate
something's missing,
and i don't know how to fix it"
