Frankly my heart is still in my mouth from watching the match between roddick and kolschreiber. It was an epic five setter reminiscent of the match roddick had with younes el aynaoui in 2003. In between roddick's amazing first serves and kolschreiber's sublime backhands, there was a lot of nail-biting points and tie-breaks. There was this moment in the fifth set when kolschreiber challenged a volley in the middle of play (!) and roddick just cracked the shits and lost it with the umpire. Thing is, all this was happening while waiting for hawkeye to give a verdict on whether the ball was in or out on matchpoint! It was a crushing blow to eventually see roddick lose but kolschreiber played an amazing match and on balance was definitely the better player winning 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (8-10), 6-7 (7-3), 8-6.

Looks like all the players I'm rooting for are out. At the respondent memo after party at Kaja's on thursday, we had the match on and in between sessions of copious drinking (by the rest), sitting outside in her back garden chilling and me taking tap lessons from sarah, the mighty safin fell to baghdatis in five sets. Oh well... I hope great tennis awaits me on Monday.

waiting for this moment to be free"
