Gosh, we're leaving in exactly a week and it's scary but bloody exciting too. The past 2 weeks have been incredibly busy but such a thrill all at the same time. So I don't forget this Vis experience and everything else that's been going on, here goes-
Valentines - spent it at the docklands at a lovely turkish restaurant, mecca bah, with the girls sans fran. Food was amazing (lebanese sausages and chickpeas) but dessert which included a rich chocolate crusted cake with baked apple ice cream and sticky date pudding was absolutely divine!
New housemate- jennifer from kansas is my new housemate. She's cool- a democrat (obama), loves travelling as well and we get along like peanut better and jelly. So all's good on that front :) I couldn't have asked for a better housemate!
Moot highlights- had a moot in front of Goldberg J and a visiting Evans J from the Canadian Court of Appeal at the Federal Court (!) last week and it was such an adrenaline rush! Addressing the bench, answering their questions and convincing them of your argument was an amazing experience and I can't get over it just yet. Had Sir Daryl Dawson (!!) to adjudicate us today and that was absolutely cool too.
Catching up- have been meeting up with people before I leave. An afternoon shopping with Sher while sharing heartening conversations over quiche and croissants... Sleepovers with Soph where we break into laughs watching the telly.. Getting mugshots taken in a photo booth with Rach and grabbing coffee after. It's de-lovely.
Getting picked- list of speakers (among other things) was announced and I'm speaking in Vienna. That aside, I'm immensely proud of the team. It's been four months of countless practice moots with the alumni, 15 hour meetings, the time-warp that is the Vis room, our beach getaway at Aireys and the CISG/ arbitration geek-jokes that we would only appreciate.
Itinerary- Hong Kong (28 feb- 10 mar), Paris (11 mar- 13 mar), Vienna (13 mar- 20 mar), Prague ( 21mar- 24 mar), Doha (25 mar), Tehran (26 mar- 5 apr), Kuala Lumpur (6 apr), Melbourne (7 apr)
I'm absolutely knackered now and should get some sleep. There's still travel insurance to settle, applications to write and send in and packing before I leave.. but there's also everything else to look forward to. "Oh, won't you stay just a little bit longer Please let me hear you say that you will Say you will.." -stay just a little bit longer, the chantels
