honey, i'm home. I got back monday morning and roman and shen picked me up from the airport. We decided to stop for breakfast on bell st and it was just so good meeting up with some of the vissies again. So over french toast, scrambled eggs and hot chocolate we sat there for a couple of hours just having a bit of chat, like we used to. Once I was back at the apartment, I forced myself to stay up (so I wouldn't be jetlagged) but after a shower, I couldn't help but crash in bed. Shen's call woke me up and I decided to lunch with her after she was done at the courts and so we checked out this new Indian place across the road from my place.
I can't say how amazing this experience has been on so many levels. Personally, making all these life-long friends (hopefully) has been such a pleasure and professionally, mooting (and doing it well) has been such an affirmation of my capabilities. And as us vissies met up last night for the Melbourne Comedy Festival, it was just so good being in that familiar environment where we basically spoke in shorthand to each other.
But when I went into Uni today and passed the vis computer room, it was strange to look into it and not see Dave in that corner he usually is in since he's always the first to arrive. The whiteboard which is (strangely) still there is woefully blank and does not have our arbitration or CISG scribbles all over it. And when I finally made my way to the research room, I didn't manage to get started on my hons thesis because every so often someone came in and asked about vis and the travels and we'd spend the next 20 mins chatting about it. And then it hits you mid-sentence, it's just not going to be the same anymore- in the last five months, the people, work and travel that came with it was amazing but there it shall remain, in the past.
But there is no time for mulling, only for planning and revelling because there are many exciting possibilities and prospects. There's also the honours thesis to work on and so I'm likely to be (for the most part) on hiatus till it's all over end of May. But I already have put up all the travel photos (see "wanderlust") and I will be upoloading my travel logs soon so there it will be in posterity. Have fun kiddos.
