I just got back a few hours ago from a gig at the east brunswick club with a couple of friends and it was one of the best ones I've been to in a long while. I hadn't heard of Kate Miller-Heidke prior to this but I'm definitely a fan now. She is a blend of whimsical rock and soulful ballads while still having quite a debbie harry-esque quality about her. She ended of her set with a song that included a section from phantom of the opera, queen's bohemian rhapsody and the beatles' twist and shout. And when she and her band came back out for her encore, she sang a lilting ballad entitled space they cannot touch. I was blown away.

"i don't need to sleep to dream
i just hope i am good enough to keep you"
-space they cannot touch, kate miller-heidke
