the last couple of days have been amazing and I need to take stock, have a breather just so I don't spin out of control. I received huge news on Friday morning and I feel like I'm on the cusp of something really amazing but I won't say more than that until I make my final decision on Friday. In any case, Friday evening was the firm's end of year function at the docklands and it definitely took the edge off from all that transpired earlier in the day.
The girls put on our frocks, went for drinks and then made our way over to central pier for our dinner. I met more of the other lawyers, watched the articled clerks put their revue up and ended the night off with (plenty of) dancing and pictures.
I was so glad Mim and me spent a nice Saturday morning together. We picked up the new stereo, shopped for her christmas tree and looked for ornaments. We wanted to get a real tree but figured the pine leaves all over the floor in the lounge room would be too messy and we settled for fairy lights and a fake (but nice) tree. We then spent the arvo dancing to Justin Timberlake in our lounge room (song choice: Cry Me A River) with the awesome new speaker and excitedly put the ornaments up on the tree and lighting it for the very first time.
Then in the evening, I rushed to put a nice frock on and made my way to Southbank for dinner with Mez at Pure South where we caught up over a nice meal overlooking the Yarra. We had tickets to 'The Nutcracker' at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and so as the sun set over the grassy knolls of the Botanical Gardens, we watched the Nutcracker save Clara from the Mouse King and was awestruck as the Sugarplumfairy took to the stage and pirouetted across it with such ease and precision. I came back home absolutely knackered and climbed under the covers on an unusually cold summers night.
I woke up Sunday morning still as troubled over the decision that remained to be made but housemate fun ensued when Mim made pancakes for brunch. So we sat in the kitchen reading the papers and having a chat before we went off to High Street to get our nails done. The day passed quickly after that with more thinking about what I should do re the decision and as I sat in bed trying to get some work done, I found myself curled in a ball asleep instead. I woke up realising I had to go pick Fran up and meet the rest of the girls for dinner. We went to Bistro Thierry in Toorak and plied ourselves with the fromage, oysters, crème brulée , fondant, soufflé and tarte tatin. It was divine and as I sit here in bed typing away, I am absolutely stuffed and happy - I will never tire in the company of these girls. I haven't filled up on this much food since Erica's Thanksgiving.
I have just made a list of the number of people who think I should stick with SIAC and the rest that think I should take up the new offer. I am still in two minds about it and there's the meeting with the partners tomorrow to see how it all might work out. Can we say nervous?
