About Rose: I grew up in Singapore, lived in Melbourne but currently call London home. I love gastronomic adventures, especially while travelling. I stated writing at 17 to remember how it all began.

It's funny how it all began with a chance meeting in Hong Kong when we were at the moots then bumping into each other on our last nights in Vienna. And over a year later, after all those e-mails exchanged, there we were in Berlin. I never thought that across countries and all the time that had passed that we'd talk like we did before and to hear you say what I'd felt instantly, "it feels like I've known you forever".
I'm not sure whether it's the time we spent talking till three in the morning curled up on the couch or something as simple as cooking and singing to myself in the kitchen while you hang out on the balcony. I am sure however that it's in those many moments in between- the laughs, you picking me off the ground just so I didn't have to walk through a puddle of water and in exploring Berlin together that I knew...
I like how you remember the tiniest thing I said, even if it was in passing, even if I said it last year. Or the way we belt out 'Wonderwall' together or when you put on Vivaldi just so there's something to listen to over breakfast. I like how it's so easy and effortless being with you. But equally, it's hard to be this far, to not contemplate that what we share is transient at best since we're always constantly miles apart and literally on either side of the world. But for now, everything fits- geography, my hand in yours, schedules, time zones.
I wonder if you know that when you look at me the way you do, I feel like nothing could go wrong. I wonder if you realise that when you only tune into BBC and CNN for an entire weekend since it was the only channel in English that it endeared you more to me. I hope you know that as I sat in the kitchen talking to your dad and saw the kind of man you were likely to become that I was impressed and hopeful. And so while "there are many things that I would like to say to you but don't know how", this much I know- you feel like home. I often say I don't know that I could see myself living in Singapore forever even if that's where I grew up, or Melbourne for that matter because there is so much else (of the world) to see and do. But with you, I know exactly where I belong. And right now I'm homesick.
"I would give all my time just to spend my nights with you I would lay down my fears Just to spend my years with you Cause when I'm standing at your door I don't feel homesick anymore" -homesick, thirsty merc
