The fasting month has finally come and gone and with that, I think it's taught me more than ever about patience. The patience to understand and see that a part of me will always want to be visit Singapore to see my family and friends. The patience to understand that learning to let go is sometimes the best thing to do or of knowing that doing well as a lawyer is going to be a constant learning process and that it all takes time. I should also be grateful for the genuinely supportive, kind and funny people I work with. I think at the end of the day, as I sit in my apartment starting to feel that life is attaining some normalcy here in Melbourne, I know things are not too shabby at all.
I think it's okay to feel wistful every now and then when the tram crosses the Yarra river and I have flashbacks of walking across the Valkenbosplein canal. I suppose the smile that I break into from reading one of your messages every other day will be enough, for now, even if you're all the way in Seville. I'm happy to have my mom here because I'm enjoying all the cooking (and new furniture) that comes with her visiting. So life isn't bad at all and with Eid tomorrow, I'm feeling positively festive. So while I still feel like a part of me will never be the same again, I will be patient and wait for the wisdom that comes with hindsight.
