The last glimmers of summer are beginning to slip away and with that the last bank holiday of the year. I spent mine in Copenhagen soaking in the Danish sunshine before autumn sets in.
I loved the cobbled stoned streets of Indre By and discovering the interesting scenes and cafés of Nørrebro. The weather was also perfect for walking along the Nyhavn harbour and an afternoon at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art which had a wonderfully curated Giacometti exhibit and where I discovered a love for Danish painter Asger Jorn.
My evenings were spent talking about the future, and reliving my childhood at the Tivoli Gardens where I amused myself at the fairgrounds.
My never-ending epicurean adventures continued with dinner at Amass by Matthew Orlando (former NOMA head chef). Everything about that meal was sublime and interesting, I am still thinking about it! I continued feasting the following day at Torvehallerne market and indulged in cakes at the Royal Smushi cafe on the most beautiful porcelain china.
I flew back to London a little heavier from all the feasting and also more content, having experienced the wonderment that a meal can bring, reliving your childhood moments and my heart welling in discovering the beauty of a new œuvre of works by a painter I had not known before. That may not be everything but it certainly is something.
"If there is a light you can always see
And there is a world we can always be
If there is a dark that we shouldn't doubt
And there is a light don't let it go out"
