Tuesday, 7.47am

I spent the past weekend in Santa Barbara at V&O's wedding.  It was beautiful in every way, the rose garden at the San Ysidro ranch, the beautiful flowers by candlelight, the gorgeous views of the beach from at the wedding brunch, and the palpable feeling of love in the air.  I am over the moon for both of them.

After the wedding, I left Santa Barbara and drove down Highway 101 towards San Simeon where I explored the Hearst Castle.  I could not have been more astounded by the views and grandeur of that magnificent estate.  As I continued the long drive along the coast, I veered towards Highway 1 and spotted elephant seals basking in the Californian sun, the palm trees lining the Pacific Ocean and the winding valleys of the forests of Big Sur.  I never want to forget that feeling of sunshine of my face, the way the oranges and pomegranate smelt as they wafted in the warm spring afternoon, and the smell of the ocean as the waves crashed onto the shore.

I am in Carmel now and plan on taking a leisurely stroll by the beach and explore Monterey. I will then head off to Yosemite for the next few days before making my way to Sonoma, for B&S's wedding.

I miss it all already, this Californian dream.

Tomorrow I'll miss you
Remember I'll always be true"
