I am overcome by weariness from having emerged of an arbitration that had me absolutely exhausted the last 2 months. As such it was a welcome respite to be whisked away to Alicante after my trial not knowing where I was heading till I was at the airport. I was overcome by surprise and happy that for a few days it would be just us. We wandered through the narrow streets, inhaled the refreshing salty air by the coast, and hiked up Santa Barbara Castle.
The past weekend, my parents came to visit and we spent some time in Brussels with each other and they even met you when we were back in London. They seem to be growing much older each time I see them and the distance of them living in Singapore, and me in London weighs on me heavily.
It has been lovely, basking in the company of some of my favourite people.
But today, things feel a bit overwhelming. I have realised that professionally and personally, the tiniest pricks can would deeply. It is admitting you care too much and with that comes the vulnerability and wanting to retreat. As Yeats said, "I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams".
