i'd been feeling out of sorts this week, so i knew one thing could make my day. shoe shopping :) myer had a 20% storewide sale. everything was 20% off, even the manolo blahniks! how could i let an opportunity like that slip by? i went through two pairs of shoes before i finally could find one in my size. setting your sights on a shoe only to be told it doesn't come in your size is heart wrenching and telling myself "somethings aren't meant to be" does little to assuage those winces of disappointment. but you find a pair nonetheless, one that's makes you walk excitedly towards it... you pick the shoe up, caress the length of the shoe and quickly run through your mind how many outfits you have to go with it. my smile broadens when the shoe is brought in my size and as i slip my feet into the shoe, that very instant sparkles with excitement and anticipation. you look into a mirror to see the amalgamation of shoe and foot- seamless, perfection. you don't always get the best shoe on display- the manolos are too expensive, the marc jacobs don't come in your size- but walking out of the store with a new pair of shoes in tow makes me that much happier :) and yet, doubts surface, should i have gotten it in white instead? those doubts then trigger the familiar lingering listlessness that had been shrouding me. and as i stride my way out, new shoes in hand, i'm uncertain as to whether i feel any better from when i first stepped into the store.

"The rain that falls, splash in your heart
ran like sadness down the window into
The space between, your heart and mine
is the space we'll fill with time..."
