after much navigation (read: failed) with the melway we finally found ourselves at flemington show grounds. the afternoon sun and the drizzle had an entire rainbow (my first!) waiting for us when we arrived.
we came after 5 so most of the show animals had left and only the very very large lazy cows were left. they look so cosy.
started the evening with some very fluffy cotton candy ..
some musicians along the grass fields playing the night away. they weren't too bad at all :)
funny looking doll man by the booths. i'd like to think that he actually mocks all those people who unsuccessfull throw balls at clowns mouths unsuccssfully. haha, he looks sinister to me.
haha, the ghost train was so much fun. they made us put on 3-D glasses and we were screaming and laughing all at the same time. the workers in there was thrusting their hands and masks suddenly at us. when we finally got off the ride the 'ghosts' came out and told us they could hear us screaming (it was pretty freaky, remember 3D!) even before we got to the end. it was hilarious and a great way to start the night!
sticky mouth, cotton candy beard, happy happy grin.

the rides we never took. haha.

we were leaning against those panels and as the room spun like a spinning top we started rising in the air but the G-force that pinned us down was like venetia said, getting a facelift as our faces were pulled back and tears that came from laughter seemed to be pulled back, down our temples as well.

we spent slightly over $50 at one of these stalls throwing balls at targets trying to win a soft toy but you know what, the house always wins.

it was really really cold. really.

full moon tonight, towering over the roller coaster. i love love amusement parks. nothing too commercialised, very much like 'grease'- just a day at the fair grounds.

was supposed to hit all 3 targets but the third one was too darn small god dammit.

one of the best things in an amusement park- the ferris wheeeeeeellll

some circus house that kids were running all about in and the whole journey through each storey and room ends with kids spiralling down the slide in the far right. it's so good to be a kid.

dinner,

at the stadium where monster trucks thrashed cars, a man flew around in a jetpack (i kid you not) and a woman got shot out of a cannon by her husband. how's that for (crazy) entertainment.

fire works from the ferris wheel, it was a great ride. freezing cold but great too see the lights of the city, flares of the fireworks and meeting new people--

year 11 and year 9 high school girls. they were on holiday from brisbane (?). we all chatted and intermittently kept saying "it's so cold" the entire time. haha but it was really nice.

fabulous friends!
