they say that 'goodbye doesn't mean forever' but sometimes it sure feels like that. i sent off nic and zq today and the same pangs of sadness came over me just as it did when i left worldmun. i'm sure in a couple of days when i'm alone in the apartment at night trying to plough through work, i'll be wishing that nic's here to call out to me when satc runs its 11.45 double episodes; zq making tea for all of us or sharing hearty meals that i'd spend the evening cooking. i only enjoy cooking as much as i have in the last couple of days when it's for people whose company i cherish so much.

maybe it's the time spent huddling in the cold at tram stops or wandering about in the arcade with child-like delight. Or perhaps it's the moments sticking my head out of the car, quite helplessly, asking for directions when driving finding our way to heidelberg or even shrieking on the rollercoaster at luna park. but i'm guessing it's the meals and mirth over dutch pancakes at vic market, pasta and pizza at la porchetta, gelati at lygon's, savoury pancakes at stokers, a barbeque along the yarra, desert at grecos, salmon travalax on the beach and according to zq "nan-jos" that made the last 9 days absolutely wonderful.

and while i was looking through my folders for photos to upload, i found an unfamiliar folder entitled "HELP! I NEED SOMEBODY!". opening it up, i found a video msg from nic and zq covertly uploaded into my laptop. it was incredibly sweet, comforting and a pleasant pleasant surprise, just as finding a package on my table containing new (and much needed) earphones for my ipod and a cool wax seal with my initials was.

it's times like these when i feel reassured and heartened beyond words. so thank you for the great time i had on your holiday :) and as we heard billie holiday croon at stokers "i'll be seeing you.." very soon in july.
