I had a night out with the girls this evening. We dined over moreton bay bugs, oysters and a porcini mushroom risotto. Apart from the great food, we talked and talked and through it all, I realised just how run-down I was - from worrying about work, feeling unsettled about Melbourne and just about everything else. But I have found a moment's respite tonight, on my couch, with music playing from the speakers and the lamps emitting the softest orange glow.
Melbourne has come to a standstill the past couple of days. With the hail, pebble-like ice cubes came down on the city and a torrent of rain and flash floods swept everything in its path. Amidst the chaos, I realised that summer was over and autumn had come round.
"when autumn comes it doesn't ask
it just walks in where it left you last
and you never know when it starts
until there's fog inside the glass around your summer heart"
