The year has been a whole mix of things, from the most trying of moments, elation through travels, experiencing those steep learning curves at work to finding someone new to blush over. 2010 hasn't been easy and I reckon there was a period that I was properly in a quarter-life crisis. But as I've come to realise now, things always get better as long as you get equal doses of friendship, good meals and travel.
I saw more of my family this year than I usually do. I spent Hari Raya back in Singapore which I really enjoyed, surprised my Dad for his 60th birthday and caught up with my best friends whom I constantly wish I could have around me more frequently.
The traipsing had me revisiting familiar places - The Hague, Paris and London - where I worked and caught up with my friends. Then there were the new places like Japan for cherry blossoms in spring, discovering Phnom Penh in the summer heat with Sonia or exploring Rome and Seville in the fall. But the standout had to be finally getting to see the Alhambra in Granada.
And the food, oh divine. That amazing rose religieuse pastry at Laduree in Paris or amazing tapas at Bar Estrella in Seville?! That onion soup in Rome definitely commendable but the grandest would be that amazing degustation menu at Vue de Monde in Melbourne. And yet, I still would choose in a heartbeat, a plate of hainanese chicken rice any day and twice on Sunday.
I am however looking forward to the new year which I hope will bring me new experiences, more confidence at the workplace and as always travels. Have a great year everyone and I wish that yours will be filled with plenty of friends, love, great food and new places and moments to discover.
Chin chin!
