I stare out at the view, nestled on my couch, with a cup of tea and Ella playing in the background. It had been one of those gorgeous summer afternoons where the weather in the 'burn finally decided to warm up. The sky is breathtakingly beautiful with streaks of orange and soft shades of purple as the blue sky fades away. As I continue to sit here, the colours begin to take on more milky hues and that line in that song comes to mind how "you should have seen that sunrise [sunset] with your own eyes".
The Christmas weekend has been full of food and at many times, I reached the point where I knew I had eaten too much but still kept on going because everything was too good. Then there was also the brilliant company and carrying on the tradition of cracking out my copy of P&P and re-reading it. There was also the day when Rozzie and I braved the Boxing Day shopping crowds. We did however manage to avoid the throngs of people by scouring Little Collins St instead (oh Satch, how I love thee) and scored great purchases. The 4 day weekend has been a welcome respite because it also gave me much needed downtime at home - an afternoon spent swimming, a morning doing the household chores and time to garden on the balcony.
It's back to work tomorrow but I'm looking forward to it, that and 2011. I will write more on the latter another time, but for now, happy holidays everyone.
"I have a feeling, it's a feeling I'm concealing I don't know why
It's just a mental, incidental, sentimental - alibi
But I adore you, so strong for you Why go on stalling, I am falling, love is calling - why be shy"
- Ella Fitzgerald, Let's Fall In Love
