A JOURNAL

About Rose:
I grew up in Singapore, lived in Melbourne but currently call London home. I love gastronomic adventures, especially while travelling. I stated writing at 17 to remember how it all began.

For the first time in 5 years, I'm celebrating Eid in Singapore. It is great to be with family and of course the amazing food.

I have also spent the past week in Perth and Melbourne catching up with friends to celebrate my 30th. It was an epic week, dining at the revolving restaurant in Perth, soaking up the atmosphere at the MCG watching the footy, dinners all over town with friends, wandering through Melbourne's laneways, going to the National Gallery, and soaking in the hot springs in Mornington on my birthday.  It has been truly wonderful and I feel so loved and grateful for an amazing bunch of former colleagues and friends who made me feel so special.

I return to London tomorrow, and with a heavy heart.  There is the dull ache of missing the familiarity and comfort of the home I grew up in (Singapore), and the longing of being so far away from the people and home I have built for myself (Melbourne). But there's so much in store, a London summer, travels and the hope and possibility of everything else.

"Over the horizon
She's smooth sailin'
These concrete seas
Now she's headed

East down the boule - the vard"
