It has been quite a summer so far filled with travels and sailing the Solent which doesn't get any better. But this weekend was different, it was a much needed quiet couple of days where I reconnected with old friends.
I saw Cara yesterday for her belated birthday celebrations and made a night of her being back from Guernsey. We went out for drinks at Mister Fogg's and had a decadent dinner at China Tang at The Dorchester Hotel. We spoke about our lives in London, reminisced about Melbourne and our hopes for the future. It was so good to have her back, because life in London would not be as amazing.
Today, I spent the afternoon chatting to Steffen over Skype. He has moved to Berlin and is embarking on a new chapter in his life. With his laptop, he showed me around his new flat, told me about his new job and plans for the summer. We talked about politics, our families, and future ventures.
My conversations with both of them this weekend has made me realised how much I miss that familiar conversation of baring your thoughts and self to another. The comfort of laughing with someone you feel you've known forever.
My chats with my two friends over the weekend has made me realise how much that connection and conversation means to me. I may have been uncertain before but I realise more than ever now that I want someone I can engage in unending chats with, sharing ideas and challenging my views; but always supportive and comforting preferably with a cup of tea in hand. As they say, to be loved is wonderful but to be understood is profound.

I hope that he turns out to be
Someone to watch over me"
