A JOURNAL

About Rose:
I grew up in Singapore, lived in Melbourne but currently call London home. I love gastronomic adventures, especially while travelling. I stated writing at 17 to remember how it all began.

I am currently back in Melbourne and have spent the last couple of weeks working from the office here while applying for a new UK visa with the British Embassy.  After a minor scare, it appears all is well and my visa was approved. What a relief!

I have managed to catch up with old friends, former colleagues, re-visit some familiar spots and discover new ones.  Much is the same with Melbourne but the biggest change I have realised is me; I no longer feel like I belong. While  I yearn for the comfort and warmth of old friendships I know that for now I do not belong to this city.

Leaning into the afternoons I fling my sad nets
to that sea that is thrashed by your oceanic eyes.

The birds of night peck at the first stars
that flash like my soul when I love you.

The night gallops on its shadowy mare
shedding blue tassels over the land
