Sunday, 6.10 am

I have rarely found a moment to rest and have mainly been trying to find pockets of time to make up for the lack of sleep. The days have been intense with classes all day long and the nights filled with dinners that turn into suppers. I love the classes and am glad to be reminded of how much I love international arbitration and to learn form the best in the field here in Paris.

I have met so many new people and also reconnected with old friends. Spending my birthday on Le Quartorze Julliet with fireworks erupting behind the Eiffel Tower was splendid with perfect company. Sometimes you have expectations of how things might work out, and sometimes (when you're lucky enough) things exceed those expectations.

It's a 4-day weekend here and am loving spending time with S. It's been two years since we last saw each other and we can't seem to ever meet in the same city twice. I go back to classes tomorrow and him to Aachen and already I can feel those familiar pangs that begin at the pit of my stomach and wells up in my chest. I'll try to enjoy what's left of this weekend and hopefully come out of this no more than just a little worse for the wear. I suppose amidst all the laughter, walks and time spent together, I found myself in a moment alone with my thoughts and realised that after all, he's still my wonderwall.

and wake up to your face against the morning sun"
